About Georgia Power Electric Utility

Georgia Power is the largest electric utility in Georgia, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The company is a subsidiary of Southern Company and serves approximately 2.7 million customers across all 159 counties in Georgia. Georgia Power operates one of the most diverse generation fleets in the Southeast, including nuclear (Plant Vogtle - the largest nuclear power plant in the US with two new AP1000 units), coal, natural gas, hydroelectric (dams on the Chattahoochee, Ocmulgee, Oconee, Tallapoosa, and Coosa rivers), solar, and battery storage. Plant Vogtle Units 3 and 4 are the first new nuclear units built in the US in over 30 years. Georgia Power has committed to net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and has invested heavily in grid modernization, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and community solar programs.
